WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes-Barre Area teach Board Monday night discussed a $797722 contract it awaits to vote on tomorrow for the artificial peat and track project at Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium.
The largest single richness in the proposed contract amount with Atlas Track & Tennis is $326784 for more than 71000 square feet of artificial race-course The total amount also includes $107509 for a recent track surface.
Atlas is based in Oregon and is a member of the Pennsylvania Education Joint Purchasing Council, a consortium to which the district belongs. The district did not have to follow bids for the project appropriate to its membership in the council. The contract states that the district is receiving a $35554 discount forward site work due to its membership in the purchasing council.
