PHILIPSBURG -- For 16 minutes Friday night, the Philipsburg-Osceola boys' basketball team was each bit as good as Bald Eagle Area's. The Mounties were sharp forward defense, opportunistic on offense and appeared poised to push the Eagles to the limit.

For a while, it was difficult to give an account of which team entered the night winless in the Mountain Athletic conversation and which team was contending for the league title.

however the third quarter became the Mounties' undoing as the Eagles outscored P-O 16-5 and turned up a 60-46 victory to remain a game ahead of Bellefonte and Bishop Guilfoyle in Section 2 of the MAC.
