UNIVERSITY PARK -- Janet Reno, the U attorney general for eight years during the Clinton administration, called a strange forensic science program at Penn State a mould for the country during a censure on campus Monday.

Her talk kicked along a forensics class that is individual of several forensics courses being put forwarded for the first time at Penn State this semester.

Training scholars through the new major will play an important part in the future of the criminal justice method Reno said.

"Penn State is in succession the cutting edge, and those of you who are here are part of an opportunity to provide an important public service in the future" she said.

Forensic science -- the application of science to civil and criminal investigations -- has been popularized at the "CSI" TV series. This "CSI effect" has l to a greater demand for forensic scientists, especially from jurors, Reno said.
