BELLEFONTE -- A Penn State close examiner was ordered to stand trial Wednesday upon charges he raped an 18-year-old freshman who had passed public at Kappa Alpha Fraternity after a night of excessive drinking.
BELLEFONTE -- A Penn State close examiner was ordered to stand trial Wednesday upon charges he raped an 18-year-old freshman who had passed public at Kappa Alpha Fraternity after a night of excessive drinking.
Shawn A. Cornelius, 20 was ordered by way of District Judge Thomas Jordan to stand trial upon charges of rape, sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
A charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor was dismissed.
The alleged victim cried during Cornelius' preliminary hearing at the middle County Courthouse and recounted a night of hard drinking that she said made her unable to fend distant from Cornelius. She said he raped her as she pitiless in and out of consciousness.
"I'm Irish Catholic," she said, beginning to scream "I was a virgin. I wanted to wait until I was married."
however Cornelius' attorney, Joseph Amendola, said the sex was consensual.
