PHILIPSBURG -- This isn't your typical summer camp.

More than 270 teen from across the nation passed on Philipsburg this week to help repair 44 area to one's homes undertaking tasks such as painting, porch repair and constructing wheelchair ramps.

They are among more than 30000 teenagers who will take part in more than 180 put forwarded work camps this summer move on by the nonprofit Group Workcamps Foundation in Colorado, said Kim Sawyer, director of the Philipsburg camp.

"Just like a child would journey to soccer camp, they would travel to work camp," she said.

Campers are being housed in the Philipsburg-Osceola Area Junior High indoctrinate where they sleep on the floor, shower in the locker field and enjoy meals prepared by way of the cafeteria staff, Sawyer said.

Days begin at 6:45 a.m. and campers work upon home-repair projects until early afternoon, when they master free time for activities like as baseball, ...
